1.1 The Unified Training Event Plan (UTEP) is a universal doctrine to be shared between all trainers within TGO. It is a layout that should be followed, no matter the subject, so all training remains somewhat consistent between length, information given, and quality. This is to avoid the mismatch of wildly different techniques employed between individual instructors and officers, whilst also allowing some variation so individual strengths can be injected for maximum effect.
1.1a While a standard structure of A, to B, to C, to D should be employed by utilizing the UTEP, that does not mean there cannot be items in between A and B, or B and C.
1.1b The UTEP is also a broad guideline for how to run events in general, with as many exceptions as there are bugs in the sky. Some events trainings may not fit neatly into this guideline, but the vast majority should.
1.2 The main body of the training plan consists of 4 different parts, each with distinct purposes, beginning, and end points. This is to both keep the information flowing in a structured manner, and to keep confusion low on the part of the students.
An obvious starting point for some, but for others who like to “hit the ground running,” a step that often gets missed. When the event training begins, start by introducing yourself, and the training you are about to conduct. Feel free to share any relevant experience you have in the field, such as prior TGO events and trainings, or hard won in game experience.
Briefly go over your training plan for the event, and any secondary documentation your students may need to be aware of, or have handy. And, this should go without saying, this is after all units have reported in and are ready.
After your students have been introduced to the subject, and nothing else needs clarified, now it is time to get them suitably prepared for the training at hand. You, as the instructor, should already be prepared with whatever instruments your training requires. Anything you did not specifically tell the students to bring for the training shall be provided to them for the training.
Be it weapons, utility items, ships, ship components, and everything in between, now is the time to begin doling it out. This time is also an excellent time to begin some descriptive information about the items if they are training on something specific.
With everything prepped, and everyone primed, it is time to get into the bulk of the training. From here, instructors may teach in the way that best suits them, with few guidelines hampering their creativity or methods. However, there are some suggestions on how to keep a class engaged:
Once you feel like your students have grasped the subject to a degree that they can enter a patrol or event with minimal, or no reminders, you can start to wrap up the event. Have them return any training items back to you, whilst also seeing if there are any more questions.
Try not to get sidetracked, as often happens near the end of events, with fun banter. A little is fine, for that is what makes hanging out together enjoyable. Ensure you have answered everyone’s questions, and the core competency you wished to teach has been absorbed.
1.1 The Basic Piloting Competency test has been created to assess Certified Pilot candidates on what The Galactic Order considers minimum, competent piloting skills. Even though Certified Pilots graduate to pilot generally larger ships, the license also shows that more sensitive, and dangerous missions and tasks can be given to the pilot.
1.1a The skill assessments below are what the Command staff feel most prudent to check, evaluating situational awareness, spatial awareness, general combat skills. Even if a unit does not pursue being a Combat Pilot, they must know how to defend themselves, and their teammates.
1.2 All assessments must be completed with a Level 2 Certified Pilot present as the proctor. The Certified Pilot will verify all metrics, and participate in testing when needed. All testing should be done in Arena Commander. Check ins and uniform inspection on the PU is not required.
In an Anvil Arrow, run the Lorville Outskirts race with a lap time of 1:50 (one minute, fifty seconds). Completion of full race is not required, as long as a verified screenshot of the candidate's lap time is acquired.
Starting 5km (five kilometers) from a spawned Idris, the candidate must land an appropriate vessel inside. The proctor will give the command, "[name], you are clear to land." From that point, the candidate has 1 minute to safely land, down and off.
Both the proctor and candidate will spawn and pilot light or medium fighters. The candidate must combat orbit the proctor for 1 minute, and get no further away than 1km during that time. The proctor will be orbiting the candidate in this time.
The proctor and candidate will load into a custom Pirate Swarm to ensure no outside help. The candidate must survive 3 rounds, with completion on the beginning of the 4th round. Any fighter may be used. The candidate has 3 attempts to complete this assessment. However, each attempt must be started over, beginning at wave 1.
The proctor will land on a pad and self destruct the ship so it does not get targetted by the pirates. For this reason, the Security Post Kareah map is recommended.
